Troubles with flat-feet?

I have flat-feet and wear the Asics Gel-1110 shoes.

They said they would help a little for over-pronating and would deliver support, but my feet hurt like crazy.

I have arch pains whenever I run miles.

I tried to buy arch support orthotics, but they even

made my arch pains 5x worse.

I don't know if my flat-feet are one of a kind

because those arch supports should have helped.

Can anyone help me on shoe selections or give me any suggestions for insoles?

Troubles with flat-feet?
Podiatrists are a bad idea. They are basically acting as doctors without having gone to medical school. They have a tendency to suggest surgery just for their benifits ($$$$) My suggestion is to go to an orthopedica surgeon that specializes in foot and ankle. They can assess your feet and prescribe orthotics that are made especially for your feet.

I do not have flat feet but am an avid runner and do have orthotics. Because store bought inserts are generic, they can actually make your situation worse. Your best bet would be to set up an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon and have HIM suggest shoes for you, along with prescribing you orthtoics. While the shoe salemen might have an idea as to what shoes might fit you best, they are not MD's and don't have an actual x-ray to diagnosis what best would fit your feet. Rather than going to shoe stores, wasting money on different pairs, buying inserts from the store, wasting more time and not to mention money, I really would suggest seeing a doctor- not a podatrist though. He will give you the most insight on what shoes to buy, what inserts to wear (whether they'll have any support in them and where) and in the end you'll spend less time and money. The other thing also is that your insurance will typically cover inserts because it is a medical condition that you have flat feet.

Hope that helps you!

(By the way, I have asics as well--OT-2110---they are the most neutral shoe and I am very happy with them as they accomodate my orthotics the best. Still, ask your doctor and bring what you do have to the appointment so he can see what you've already tried!)
Reply:i got flat feet to so i got my shoes cut the arch in the sole till it was flat and ran with those i ran better and it didnt hurt for me.
Reply:Just look around, check out and ask about arch supports/orthotics, and maybe even some exercises?

And it would prolly help if you went to see a podiatrist or other physician yea?

good luck
Reply:Go and see a sinseh, it really helps (:
Reply:a yoga exersise ;

stand with your feet hips distance apart

rise onto the balls of your feet

be sure to stand upright

use your big and little toe to balance you

rise and lower ten times in a row

do this exersise every night and you will develop muscle in the middle of your foot witch will make your feet less flat !
