I'm required to wear heels at the hotel I work at and I get bad lower back pain...?

I've tried insoles and standing on a pad at the front desk, but after 8 hours a day in heels my lower back is killing me! Any suggestions?

I'm required to wear heels at the hotel I work at and I get bad lower back pain...?
Try a different brand. For me any shoe made by Nine West is comfortable all day. There are also brands like Aerosoles that offer cute shoes with comfort and support. Also, is there a height minimum on the heel? There are many cute dress shoes out these days that have only a 1.5-2 inch heel. A slimmer heal will make the shoe look dressier so you can get away with a lower heel. Best of luck I feel you pain... I work at a manufacturing plant and since my office is on the manufacturing floor I have to wear steel toes everyday. Not only are they heavy, but they don't make any cute womens steel toes. Oh well... ps. if you boss is a man, tell him he has to start wearing heels too!
Reply:you are going to have to go to the doctor and get paperwork stating the heels are causeing you pian and take this to your employer and they will have to allow you to wear shoes that will not cause you discomfort...it is part of the labor law....they can not fire you that will be discrimination.....but follow the steps....i am a HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR....trust me on this one GOOD LUCK
Reply:I've heard of dress codes but that is ridiculous. Can you get by with a low heel? Something like 1 inch, wide heel. Or else keep wearing the heels and than go to a doctor who will state that in a report your back pain is due to the heels and let them pay for workmens comp and medical bills.
Reply:get a smaller heel. they do make pretty compfortable ones just might have to spend a little extra money. i used to do the same thing but was never required to wear heels. You just need to complain about it. Tell them you will wear a nice pair of flats. or something.
Reply:Are you able to move into shorter heels? Or even try a larger base on the heel for better stability which can help your back. Other than getting a Dr. note or changing jobs that is all I can think of.
Reply:Wearing high heels is bad for a woman's feet as well as back. Try discussing this with other employees at your hotel and see if as a group you cannot get your managers to be persuaded to allow you not to wear high heels constantly.
Reply:get a new job that does not require you to wear heels
Reply:Tell your boss that you cant wear ehals for medical reasons. if they disagree, i may look for a lawyer, or a new job.
Reply:If your employer is inflexible about the shoes, then you may have to find another job.
Reply:Honestly, get a job that doesn't require you to wear heels.

*************

If you work in a right to work state (really a right to fire state) then your employee can fire you for no reason whatsoever without any explanation. I think that chances are if you come to them with a Dr's note, within a week you will be terminated. Just start looking for a better job. Everything happens for a reason.
