How do i know if i have stress fractures?

i think i may have stress fractures in my feet. i have been in the army for 2 years and about halfway through all of my training i started getting really bad pain in my feet. the pain got bad real fast and i was standing on the sides of my feet (roll my ankles out so that the bottom of my feet were facing each other) instead of standing normal to ease the pain. i never saw a doctor about it at training because that meant missing training and possibly not graduating on time. ever since then it's hurt to do anything. i can't stand/walk for more than an hour without being in absolute pain and i am completely flat-footed now (i used to have high arches). my other job requires me to stand a lot and when i get home my feet are throbbing and the pain never really goes away. it's just so painful to walk or do anything anymore.

insoles don't work, i have insurance but still can't afford to see a doctor, the army won't pay for it. do i have stress fractures? what do you think i should do?

How do i know if i have stress fractures?
Okay, I'm confused. Are you still in the military? If yes, are you active duty? If yes again, go to the infirmary. They don't pay for anything, that's a benefit you get. If you're still in but on reserve status ask your C.O. where to go. Better yet, complain about it A LOT on your next drill weekend, they'll send you then. If this happened during training you're entitled to medical plus maybe disability benefits as well. The only way to positively diagnose a stress fracture is through an X-Ray. You'll have to wear a special boot for 4 - 6 weeks for it to heal. I doubt that's what it is if your feet are flat now, though. You probably have fallen arches for which you may need surgery, maybe just special orthopedic shoes, depends on the severity. Any way you look at it you have to contact the VA, the army is responsible for taking care of it. If you injured yourself working at McDonald's wouldn't you file a workmen's comp claim? Same thing.
Reply:The only way to know for sure is either an x-ray or bone scan.

Go on sick call and talk to the doctor.
