Always on an inside edge?

Ok, lately I've noticed that on my left foot I'm always on an inside edge and cant really go into a deep outside edge for when I enter my spins (for those who helped me with blade choices, I went for the Phantom blade. Thanks again for your help there.) But I knew when it came to edges on my left foot they weren't as deep compared to my right foot. I've already had custom insoles put in because I've got flat feet but what could really be the problem, possibly mounting problems?

Thanks so much.

Always on an inside edge?
It could possibly be a mounting problem! It could also be a blade not sharpened properly or needing sharpening . . . a broken down boot . . . or in my case it was a boot that was not fitting me correctly (it was actually too big!). But if you have Phantoms, you probably know very well what to feel for - so it may be a mounting problem.

Skaters with foot probs can have tendencies to go towards inside or outside edges . . . and I think being flat footed makes you go inside even more. So a correct blade mount is essential - and it is different for everyone (not an exact science I hear). If you just got new blades mounted, then it's quite possible you need some adjustment - moving it a hair can make all the difference!

Is it just on the spin entrance . . . or does it not feel right when doing a left outside edge period? How are your flip entrances when you have to do your left 3? Or even lutz?

Talk to your pro about it - and the person who would be (re)mounting your blades - see what their opinions are!

Good luck and hope you find that outside edge soon!!

EDITED TO ADD: Now it sounds very possible that it's a mounting issue!
Reply:It could be a mounting problem, especially if the blade is too far to the outside of the boot. I would suggest getting this checked out by a reputable dealer, especially if this is a brand new issue that you didn't have with your old skates.

If this is a technique problem, try holding your outside edge on the circle, keeping your inside shoulder pressed down well, but not stiff or rigid. Look in the direction you are skating. These simple rules may help.

If these ideas do not help, check to make sure that your sharpening is even. If you aren't sure how to check this, talk to your coach and/or whoever does your sharpening. The hollow groove that runs down the center of your blade should be parallel to the sole of your skate.

My suspicion is that your're right--this could be a mounting issue. Some skate shops may be unwilling to admit that they made a mistake so, if necessary, get a second opinion from another skate shop.

Hope this helps,

Reply:Yes it could be a mounting problem or you could just be leaning in on your inside edge, but I would take it back to the place which you got them mounted at and have them look at them and tell them what is going on, and ask them what else could be the problem, and how to fix it.
Reply:Your blade alignment is set too far to the inside. If you look at an outside edge tracing, I'll bet you're "double tracking" slightly. It's not unusual with new boots or blades.

If these are replacement blades, you may want to make sure the pro shop didn't reuse the old blades' holes. That will screw up the mounting for certain.

If the blades are still held on with only the temporary mounting screws, it should be a simple adjustment. Go back to the pro shop and tell them what you've told us -- you're "falling to the inside" on the left foot. The pro shop can either adjust the blade outward a bit or put in a lift (insert a thin piece of leather under the blade mount on one side.)
Reply:try the mounting

ask your coach or skate sharpena to chek it out!
Reply:well, its either the way it was mounted, or your just leaning your foot too much, mine did that when i first started and it was because i was just leaning my foot too much
