Back and Foot Pain While Working?

I just started working third shift as a prosessor. That includes lifting 50+ pound boxes and sorting through them to find clothes to hang prior to putting them on the sales floor. I do ALOT of heavy lifting, bending and walking. I work full time, five days a week, nine hours a night. The back and foot pain i'm experiencing is so severe, that I don't know what to do. Quitting this job is not an option. Also, I have no help with my work because i'm the only one working in my department. I've tried everything from athletic shoes, to Epsom Salt, and insoles. Nothing helps. My doctor has put me on very strong pain meds and they don't help either (And my Chiropractor said there wasn't much he'd be able to do to help). Z-Coil shoes are also not an option. I exersize and elevate my feet every morning when I get home, but the pain always comes back as soon as I get back to work. Is there ANYTHING I can do? I'm at the end of my rope. I really need help.

Maybe you should go to a real MD instead of the chiropractor. They are good for some things but you can't go wrong with a MD.
Reply:Buy some new shoes....I used to work 60 hours a week in a warehouse on concrete...If you work in one area for awhile then get a mat to stand on....
Reply:so you are sure you like this job...well are you affected with anterior spillage? heavy stomache area?

have your doctor refer you or call and talk to a physical therapist about back strengthening exercises,

how long has it been since you have had a complete physical by a doctor? they are important from time to time, it keeps us up to speed with our bodies,,,, to have a body comes with responsibility of taking it for a tune up once in a while not just when it doesnt feel good...

also check into yoga it is very good for strength and stretch and relaxing and finding your center to help daily maintenence of activities

maybe the amout you are lifting is too heavy for your frame and muscle structure,

there are a lot of factors related to back health,,,, i suggest you make a check list of self evaluation
Reply:Have you seen a podiatrist as well? That may be a good idea, although it sounds like you're doing everything you can.

I am sorry that you are having to deal with this pain everyday.
Reply:I have the same problem. I have terrible pain when I work as well. It's in my heals. Anyways, I have got a pair of MERRELS that really help support. I've tried insoles, they don't work.

I feel your pain. Goodluck. Perhaps see a specialist/foot doctor?
