(Silly Question) How can you get a fungas from wearing sneakers without socks?

I have been wearign sneakers without socks for many years, and a friend of mine told me that I could get foot fungas from not wearing any socks. How can I get a fungas from wearing my own sneakers without socks. I tried to tell him that I been doing it for many years and never had a foot fungas. I have a pair of sneakers I worn without socks for the 5th year in a row, and I don't see a sign of fungas growing. THese sneakers are old and the insoles did change color, but that is from aging, and not fungas; therefore how can I get a fungas on my feet if I wear my own sneakers without socks?

(Silly Question) How can you get a fungas from wearing sneakers without socks?
Some people get athletes foot --a fungus--from wearing sneakers without socks because when you sweat the moisture goes into the shoes. If you wear socks, the cotton socks absorb the moisture. Fungi grows in damp dark places like tennis shoes. You probably have a strong immune system that helps you to fight infections.
Reply:MOISTURE. If you wear socks the moisture soaks into the socks, when you go sockless the moisture has no place to go and stays against the skin.
Reply:Smelly feet, yes. Fungus, only if you do not wipe between your toes after showering, especially in a public shower.
