What is this foot injury?

I have been treated for plantar faciatis, successfully, but still wear the insoles.

Two nights ago I was walking and something in my foot literally twanged. It is under the foot, on the outer edge, running from below the 4th toe to the middle of the foot.

It is painful - sharp and aching, but is definitely not the same pain as the plantar faciatus.

Any ideas? And do I see a doctor or go straight back to the physio? Thank you!

Do you get pins and needles? Is it constant pain or does it come on over a period of time? Sounds like it could be a mortons neuroma you would need to get this confirmed by a podiatrist or your doctor.
Reply:Consult with your doctor. You may have developed Morton's neuroma, an inflammation of a nerve between your 3rd and 4th toe bones (metatarsals).
